BILL SWEENEY
Coach
Bill began CrossFit in 2013 and started coaching at CrossFit Boston in 2016. He is a full time Firefighter for the Boston Fire Department and started coaching at CrossFit ONE Nation in 2017. Bill is a former Marine Corps Officer and served on active duty for 4 years. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 where he led his platoon conducting combat operations in the Helmand Province. He is a 2008 graduate of Norwich Univerity. Bill grew up playing hockey and started lifting weights early on in high school.
In his words: “CrossFit has given so much to me and has had a huge impact on my life. I found CrossFit at a point in my life when I was transitioning from the Marine Corps. It gave me a continued strong purpose in life and introduced me to a great community to be a part of in Boston. Being around like-minded people who were dedicated to being fit was a great environment to be in. When I decided I wanted to pursue coaching it was because I really wanted to be in a position to pay it forward and share CrossFit with others. Teaching has always been a passion of mine and teaching CrossFit is something I view as a way to truly help people lead better lives. Helping people achieve small victories in the gym everyday and seeing the positive impact that CrossFit has on their mind and body is one of the most rewarding things about coaching. Whether it be a young athlete trying to get better at their sport, a first responder training for the rigors of their profession, or an older person looking to maintain their independence and live an active life, coaching and guiding them towards their goals is something I really enjoy and take pride in. It is truly an honor to be an ambassador of CrossFit and to help people on their journey to lifelong fitness and wellness.”
