SAM HORENSTEIN
Head Coach, Needham
Sam began CrossFit in 2010, started coaching at CrossFit Fenway in 2011, coached at Reebok CrossFit ONE from 2014 – 2015, and has been with ONE Nation since 2014. He graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2006 with a major in sculpture and a minor in art history. As a youth and collegiate athlete, Sam competed in track & field (throwing events) and fencing. Post-college, Sam worked in corporate marketing and illustration. CrossFit has provided him with a new way of life, and an opportunity to give back to his community.

In his own words: “During my professional career as a desk jockey, I went from a collegiate athlete that competed at a body weight of 190 to someone who was walking around at 270-pounds at my heaviest. The support and motivation I received from my adopted and ever-evolving CrossFit community has provided me with the tools to better my own life, and to the opportunity to share the same with others. Helping people move better and lose weight, helping people keep up with their kids, helping kids to love fitness and play from an early age, and generally just helping people live their day-to-day lives better—it’s only going to continue to change my community for the better. That’s what I believe is significant about coaching at ONE Nation, it’s that we are actually bettering and molding the greater communities around our little gyms. My team and I are helping athletes of all ages live stronger, healthier, and happier lives.”
